Volunteer & Employment Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities

As a non profit organization, The Womens Center relies on volunteer support! The Women's Center offers a variety of short- and long-term opportunities to become involved with our programs, services and operations.

The following volunteer postions are currently available:

  • Committee Member: Help with public relations, marketing, program evaluation, or program advisory committees.

    Career Programs Volunteer: Provide one-on-one assistance to help clients develop job search skills. This opportunity requires a 1-year commitment and 3-5 years experience providing career advising in a formal setting.

  • First Response Volunteer: Provide information, support and community referrals to Triangle area women who call or walk into The Women's Center. This position requires a 6-hour training and a 6-month commitment of 2-3 hours per week.

  • Program Attorney: Answer 15-minute phone calls from clients with questions about a variety of legal issues, primarily in the area of family law (requires a committment of 2 hours once a month). Phone calls are fielded from your office or home, so no travel is required.

  • Financial Counselor: Help clients with budgeting, financial skills, and credit issues. This opportunity requires a 6 month commitment and at least 1 year of professional experience such as banking, investing, asset management,  business, real estate and/or accounting. Experience requirements for students: finance and accounting coursework. 

  • Special Events Committee Member: Help plan and coordinate events surrounding The Women's Center's annual fundraisers.

  • Spanish Translator: Translate written materials from English into Spanish.

  • Workshop Facilitator: Facilitate a workshop for the community on a topic related to career, legal, or financial issues

    Available Internships

The Women's Center is currently recruiting Information and Referral Specialst Interns (two positions available). Tasks will include greeting all clients who walk in or call, maintaining the front desk area and our Resource Room. A large portion of this position is client service based, including active listening, connecting clients with Women's Center Services and/or other community agencies as needed. Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds is required. This position is 10 hours per week and is unpaid.
